The Dermatology Review Course offers attendees a broad multi-dynamic opportunity for expanding dermatology specialty based knowledge and is a resource to assist individuals in preparing for the Dermatology Nurse Certified (DNC) examination. This full day course curriculum covers pediatric and adult medical dermatology including phototherapy usage and safety, surgical dermatology; along with cosmetic and laser indications and procedures. DNA has worked hard to develop a program based on the criteria identified by the Dermatology Nursing Certification Board that also provides participants with a multi-dermatology specialty review of core dermatologic concepts, procedures and specialty practices.

This course is designed for the individual preparing for the DNC certification exam and for individuals who desire a broad dermatology subspecialty review of core disease processes and practice components. We hope that this program is helpful to you in your pursuit of nursing certification in dermatology and/or to broaden your professional knowledge base of the many diverse practice subspecialties in Dermatology.     • Discuss skin anatomy and physiology 
    • Identify modalities used to treat dermatologic disease
    • Describe symptoms of skin diseases, diagnostic tests and treatment of these diseases
    • Describe ultraviolet light and its effect on skin
    • Discuss therapeutic use of phototherapy and equipment needed
    • Describe management of potential side effects
    • Discuss temporary facial rejuvenation treatments and aesthetic procedures
    • Review and examine benign, precancerous, and malignant skin tumors and treatment options
    • Review malignant skin disease and treatment options
    • Discuss common surgical procedures, medications, and basic wound healing in the dermatologic surgery setting
    • Recognize common pediatric skin conditions
